We have made a few major decisions since we got to Japan!
First, we bought a car! It is a Toyota Vitz and hopefully it will get the job done for three years. (Please note Tim's Sewanee hat in the front of the car. YSR!).
Our second big decision: We have found a house in Yamato outside the east gate of the base! Move in date is Friday, Feb. 10th. Although we will miss the central heating in our hotel room, we are looking forward to getting settled! The house is about a 10-15min drive to work for Tim and is located less than 10 minutes from a major train station. It is the perfect location!
I have only a few, poor photos. But we will post more once we have moved in!

Oh man, a million questions. Will you have postal service to this house? Is the street on Google map street view your street or is there a little lane off that road? Are most of the roads skinny? Thank goodness they gave you the name of the school in English?!?!? How do you read maps with Japanese characters? Now I can go tooling around your neighborhood with the little Google map guy! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any little green space or outside space? Where will you fry turkeys? Well, judging from the wall paper they picked, you must be pleased to have so little of it. Love the green flooring in the guest room - can't wait to see what you do with it!. Also the kitchen - is there a reason they couldn't turn the tiles on the sub-floor storage the same direction as the rest of the floor? Good thing you're a Navy couple, it will feel natural to call out "Ahoy, mate" when you are digging into that storage for your pots and pans - looks just like storage on a boat.
I know you miss your mom's help moving and that she's itching to be there, too.
Love you and keep the news coming!
Helllo! So great catching up on our Skype date yesterday. Glad I logged in to see all these pics of your new place and car! Hope tomorrow is a successful moving day for you and Tim!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see pictures of the "after" of your place once all your stuff gets moved in!
Miss you!
