2Prechters Prepare for Pacific Crossing
From the movie to the photos: a journey through what now lays out and what will lay packed. (I'd like to note that the term 'will' denotes futurity, but does not necessarily imply completion guaranteed.) Towards the end of the video you'll notice that we've purchased some miracle workers in the form of Space bags. Unfortunately they won't take us to space, but hopefully they will take us to the Far East. Oh, by the way, have I told you that we are moving to Japan? If not, we're moving to Japan! On the 14 Claire and I will board a shiny silver American Airlines jet bound for Dallas then Seattle. But get this, we arrive in Seattle near 8pm on the 14th, but our flight to Japan doesn't leave for almost 12 hours (at 7:50am on the 15th). Just get a hotel room you might suggest. WRONG! Uncle Sam needs us to check in for our flight at 1:50am. In Seattle we'll be spending the night at the definitions of "hurry up and wait" and "overkill." That's the plan at least.
So if you haven't noticed, at the suggestion of many a family member and friend, and in the footsteps of my intrepid younger ExPat brother, I have created a blog. Due to the anticipation brought on by procrastination coupled with exciting and surely riveting content, I have aptly named this travel log "theBLOG" (a play on the 1958 thriller "The Blob" for you youngsters out there).
As you can see I've also been experimenting with my mac's iMovie program. The clip a the beginning of this post took me maybe 2 hours to create. The clip I think I may include at the end took about half that time but is probably 1/10th the length. Pray for progress.
Prior to writing, directing, filming, producing, editing, promoting and reaping zero monetary benefits of my labors, my beautiful bride and I have enjoyed close to a month of blissful vacation, split as equitably as we could between our family in New Orleans and our family in Paducah. In both locations we enjoyed hours of family fun and metric tons of delicious home cooked family meals. The memories from the trip will continue to stay with us as we travel the open ocean (comfortably through the air of course) and start a new chapter in Japan.
Invitations:
I do invite all friends and family to read and follow our journey as hopefully we'll stay true to this method of communication and create a worth while chronicle of our life in Japan. I also invite anyone we've shared time with this past month to post some of their favorite moments or memories of our vacation with them. Thirdly, I invite everyone to write, if you so desire, the old fashion way. Our address is an FPO box (which stands for Fleet Post Office box), and the shipping for packages and letters is the same as to anywhere domestically. If you are filling a form out online, in the city box goes "FPO" and in the state box goes "AP," which stands for 'Armed Forces Pacific. The address is as follows:
LTJG Timothy and Claire Prechter
PSC 477 BOX 783
FPO, AP 96306-9998
USA
Finally, I invite everyone to check out brother Doug's blog, for his is the inspiration for mine.
Sayonara Guddonaito!
Wonderful! Just jealous that your pre-Japan travels did not bring you this way! I wish you and Claire a grand adventure and I am so glad you will keep us posted. (What are you doing with the cat(s)?) Much love to you both!
ReplyDeletethanks - I will hungrily wait for updates - your talk of food and the FB photos of Kay's Ladies Luncheon ensures food related adverbs and adjectives where I can squeeze them in. Travel safe.
ReplyDeleteLove to you both!
Katherine graciously adopted the cats while we intrepid two galavant across the sea. Katherine, we are forever indebted to you! We should have asked if you were interested in them; though, I don't know how they would have got along with Dash and Dot?
